Overview

Matangi Private Island Resort is a family owned and operated resort, on a 240-acre private island, located in the lush tropical northern part of the Fiji Islands.

This unique horseshoe-shaped island paradise boasts virgin tropical rainforest and white sand beaches. It's no surprise that it was voted in
Islands Magazine as one of the "Top 10 Private Islands in the World" and also featured in "1,000 Places to See Before You Die", by Patricia Schultz.

Matangi offers 14 traditional Fijian designed bures, each with air-conditioning, ipod docking stations, outdoor stone shower, large sitting area, fully stocked mini bar and all the amenities of a luxury resort. The island caters to adults only. Rates include all meals, morning and afternoon tea, non-motorized water sports.

Ideal for honeymooners, destination weddings, couples, romantic getaway, soft-adventure, snorkeling, scuba, hiking and seekers of natural beauty.

Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   My husband and I visited the resort for our honeymoon. It was amazing in every way. Accomodations, food, friendly staff all there. It was very romantic and I would highly recommend it for a honeymoon or anniversary. Definitely visit horseshoe bay while you are there and enjoy the peace and beauty of the island.

Review:   My review is a little tardy - went there in the 90's! It was spectacular, but was very much a scuba destination. If you're not a diver you are missing out on the main attraction. If you are up for drift diving in strong currents you'll see the best the Pacific has to offer. Plus great land-side care.

Review:   Lovely place with extremely friendly staff. It was really home away from home. A lot of activities on offer and had amazing landscapes with beautiful views.

Review:   Without a doubt the most amazing vacation I have ever taken. Yes, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking but what puts Matangi in a class by itself is the staff. Everyone we met was so incredibly kind and many made an effort to connect with us on a personal level, to the point where we truly considered them all friends by the time our stay ended. The food was consistently excellent and there were always plenty of activities for us to partake in such as snorkeling, handline fishing, and a tour of a nearby village.

Review:   Beautiful. Best snorkeling ever. Lowest density accommodation ever. Great staff. Loved it.
