Once here, slip into island living and explore the hundreds of tracks which criss-cross the world's largest sand island. Immerse yourself in the ancient rainforests, which flourish in dune valleys, coloured sand cliffs on Seventy-Five Mile Beach or the mirrored lakes, ringed with gold, which tempt even the most reluctant swimmers.

Overview

Kingfisher Bay Resort was voted the Best Beach Resort in Australia by 'Discovery's Travel Channel' and has won six Australian Tourism and nine Queensland Tourism Awards. The stunning property, complete with mirror lakes and waterholes, blends seamlessly with the island's sensitive ecological systems.

We pride ourselves on setting benchmarks in environmental tourism and as the winner of the inaugural Steve Irwin award for ecotourism, live and breathe this philosophy in the resort, from our award-winning architecture to our landscaping.

All of our accommodation has been designed to minimise any effects on the natural environment, conserve energy and minimise waste. An onsite worm farm turns waste into compost for the resort's gardens and recycling is a must.

Native bird and wildlife are easily spotted from the walkways, private hotel verandas or outdoor pools. Our interpretive Rangers are locals who are passionate about Fraser and are happy to share their knowledge at the drop of a hat, as part of the resort's action-packed activity schedule, or showcase the beauty spots on a guided-tour.

Whether romantic indulgence, a business retreat, family-fun holiday or wilderness adventure is on the cards, a visit to Kingfisher Bay Resort can also be a lifestyle-changing experience.

Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   We recently had our wedding at Kingfisher Bay Resort and it was an amazing day but I was torn between the lack of attention to detail and communication in some respects and the staff that went above and beyond. Our wedding coordinator was lovely and did her best under the circumstances. The food was amazing but the beer was not chilled properly, the wedding cake was not cut until 10pm due to lack of communication from the catering team and when it was presented there were no plates for guests to use for adding cream and coulee to the cake. The staff were very apologetic and very friendly. For some reason the table seating was not correct and we had a table of 11 people on a small round table and a table of 6 on a large rectangular table this was annoying as the coordinators attention to detail prior to the wedding was on point. The courtesy bus driver was wonderful...he escorted my elderly mother to her room...such a lovely gesture that I will cherish. A staff member also climbed a ladder to retrieve my bouquet from the roof when my bouquet toss was a little too hefty. Some very simple mistakes that could have been prevented with more care and attention in some respects and some wonderful staff members who went beyond the call. Thank you for the memories with some improvements with communication it would have been the perfect wedding.

Review:   The island is amazing, definitely recommend. But the resort is not worthy. We upgraded our room from lodge to hotel because the lodge was too close to the bar and it was noisy till midnight, then we got an very expensive price ( we founded that after we returned to main land). I think the hotel should give us a better deal. And at the second day we stayed, we found we got many insect bites in the room (not while we went to tour at day time), the reception said there are many insect daring this season, BUT! after we did some research, we think it was bed bug bites! Because only one of us dot those bites and it only happened when she sit on a specific bed. The island is great, but the resort, need think twice before you book.

Review:   The villas are incredibly dated! Definitely need a re do, the showers are probably the worst part. Food is expensive but actually quite good. The hospitality staff are wonderful, but the reception staff seem clueless. The pools are nice and clean. Overall, Id stay here again but in a hotel room, definitely not a villa.

Review:   Fraser Island is a beautiful Island which must be seen. But this resort is expensive compared to the quality of the rooms and the food. If staying here I would recommend renting a car and drive on the beaches! Wonderful experience
