The Hunter Valley offers you a choice of coast and country, wilderness and wineries and a glimpse of genuine country life in its historic towns.

Less than two hours drive from Sydney and 45 minutes from Newcastle Airport, The Hunter Valley is one of Australia's oldest and most well known wine regions. Over 100 wineries are spread across sweeping vine-lined hills where generations of family winemakers are still onsite and inviting you to try their white and red varieties while telling their tales.

The region is also renowned for its exquisite regional produce, such as cheeses, olive oil and olives as well as over 60 restaurants with acclaimed chefs adding their own unique but distinctly Australian style.

For those seeking an active pursuit you can walk or ride your way through a handful of wineries creating your own Hunter Valley wine experience or try your hand at a swing of golf at one of the Hunter Valley's world class golf courses.

The Hunter Valley is also building its reputation as home to some of Australia's most spectacular events. 'The Lovedale Long Lunch' and 'Semillon and Seafood' celebrates the region's world class wine and food while a smooth melody of food, wine and music culminate for the 'Jazz in the Vines' and 'Opera in the Vineyards'.

Another aspect of the Hunter Valley unknown to many visitors and within close proximity of the wine growing region is the Barrington Top National Park featuring pristine rainforests with kilometres of hiking trails offering peace, quiet and superb scenery including native animals and birds.

Cessnock is the southern gateway to the Hunter Valley wine region while the town of Pokolbin, about six kilometres west of Cessnock.
