'...it offers guests much more than just a superb meal. With 33 sleek rooms and suites set in about 2.5 hectares of garden extending down to the waters of Lake Daylesford, as well as a spa nestled among the treetops, the entire resort is enveloped in a tranquil, welcoming ambiance that has enchanted visitors from around the world.'

Lake House is a tranquil retreat that includes rooms and suites in either a waterfront or lodge setting. Six acres of abundant and fruitful gardens extend down to the waters of Lake Daylesford and provide guests with immediate access to the lake shore and the Wombat State Forest beyond.

Given the opportunity to explore the grounds, guests will come upon the Kitchen Garden planted out with herbs and edible flowers. Orchard areas include olives, crabapple, stone fruits, apple, quince and medlar. The earliest plantings of stringy barks,Yunnan and Lombardy poplars and pin oaks now form a canopy over the site and are populated with rosellas, currajongs, gang gangs, cockatoos and kookaburras.

A myriad of sculptures and artwork from some of the region's top artists are dotted around the garden. Extensive outdoor lakefront terraces, or quieter nooks like the pavillion overlooking the full sized tennis court offer the opportunity for a quiet drink or the pleasure of a leisurely peruse of the papers. A large lounge with open fire, billiards and a good selection of reading materials, is a popular destination in cooler weather. A DVD library of classic favourites affords additional opportunity to cocoon and relax indoors...

The renowned restaurant draws appreciative foodies from Australia and around the world. In the kitchens, a talented team under the guidance of Co-Owner and Executive Chef Alla Wolf- Tasker and Head Chef David Green work from the ground up producing cutting edge, modern Australian cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal and regional ingredients.

The Award Winning Cellar and its 800-odd reference list keeps wine buffs happy with its edgy and interesting selection of wines from around the world and of course closer to home.

Co-Owner and resident artist Allan Wolf-Tasker whose work hangs in private and public collections around the world has a studio on site which is open by invitation and appointment to Lake House guests. Wolf-Tasker's canvases are on display throughout the property as are works by other artists from the family's private collection.

In amongst the cool fern gully and surrounded by waterfall fed streams and springs - the Salus Spa is an oasis of tranquility. Accents of blond wood and splashes of "Tiffany" blue in the furnishings combine with large nudes by renowned local painter David Bromley to create airy relaxation spaces around ten treatment areas.. Hydrotherapy in private treetop mineral water spas, advanced performance facials and seasonal signature body treatments provide for easy on site indulgence.

Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Really good service and the accommodation is really spacious and clean. Would highly recommend. Dinner is really special, would recommend dressing up more formally for it. There is a large selection of drinks and a three/four course meal. There is also a tennis court in the compound as well, and a jacuzzi and sauna for guests.

Review:   For a Michelin star restaurant it was okay. The decor on the inside was plain Jane compared to other fine dining, no real wow appeal. The views were good, after halfway through my meal I manage to see a small section of the lake. The wait staff there were impeccable never let my glass go empty or even half full. The food was delicious however very salty, it was good that the staff were on top of the water as I drank a lot! And they treated my boyfriend on his 21st to a nice special lemon dessert. For fine dining it’s definitely one of the best in the area, but wouldn’t say it’s the best in Melbourne.

Review:   Beautiful location, a wall around the lake even in cold weather is still great. My partner got a massage and said it was pretty good apart from starting 5 minutes late and finishing 5 minutes early. Didnt eat there this time

Review:   One of my favourite places in country Victoria. Stayed in the waterfront suite and the room was fantastic. The food in the restaurant is magnificent and the breakfast is awesome. Have been here twice and will be back again, love it here!

Review:   Must go before you die. Should get a Michelin star or 2. I could speak in half of the restaurant as I haven’t stayed there. However... Food fantastic, staff were really on top of there game here. We had a 10 month baby with us and they were super nice and friendly to us. Even a bar tender went out of his way to offer our baby a strawberry just out of kindness. Book early is my only advice. Tried to book 2 weeks in advance but could only get lunch. Lunch still good you can see the lake and views too.
