Review:   This is a really nice hotel with a great view. I visited check in twice, once when I knew it was too early but just wanted to drop in en route and pay, and once to actually get my key. Service the first time was not very friendly, though the second time they were great (different people at check in). I found it odd that a 5 star hotel would not have a bar or even cafe or lobby one can wait an hour or so if your room isn't ready: that's just standard practice to have a lobby lounge. However, not a huge issue as location is awesome and you can easily find a nearby cafe. There were many great elements, the room itself was lovely, huge, no extra charge for room service, pool also great. Nice location. However there were some things that 5 star hotels should have (and usually do, based on vast travels). There was no complimentary bottle of water on the bedside, there were limited toiletries (no conditioner, no body wash: just shampoo, bar of soap and lotion). The toiletries were lovely though, I should add, as was the bath and shower. There were a few other problems; no slippers, room service knocking even though I had the "do not disturb" (or similar) notice up. The bathrobe was not pool friendly, I only mention this because there was no changing room or place to store valuables at the pool or gym, which means that getting changed in your room and padding down in a more suitable terry cloth robe and slippers is the most feasible option. The spa was lovely but too deep: I am average height (5'6) but when the bubbles were on I could only last a few minutes as the bubbles were well up to my ears - far too high (looks great, but not practical). Finally the steam room was not turned on: when I did go on my last morning I waited at least 15 minutes and nothing seemed to be happening. This is not acceptable - if you are paying $300 or more all these little things should be rectified. I hope this does not sound too harsh or pedantic, I would still recommend this hotel but I would advise double checking other options as I would class it more as a very nice hotel, just not a 5 star.

Review:   Quay West is well situated in the heart of Southbank, easy to access off City Road and well maintained. The service was always fantastic and the cost competitive with other hotels in the area. Valet parking was a little pricey at $45 per night but once again, competitive with the area and probably cheaper than local parking bays.

Review:   Potentially the best hotel we stayed in during our time in Australia. It’s location is perfect, next to the river, across the road from Flinders Street station and within easy access by foot to local transport, the sporting venues and the city itself. The bed was probably the best we enjoyed during our stay in Australia, exceptionally comfy. The room was not only spacious but being a suite had in room washing and cooking facilities. The gym was a touch small and adjacent to a decent sized pool and Jacuzzi. More importantly both were available both early in the morning and later at night which was ideal as sometimes the pool is closed after a days sightseeing. Breakfast was a nice array of both hot and cold food with great coffee but the organization of it all seemed a little bit chaotic. For quite a large hotel there was only a small amount of space for breakfast and it could have been organised better. What was available was lovely and our needs were always catered for. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble for reception who helped us organize transfers to the airport and anything else we required. On the final morning we were leaving before breakfast was open so they kindly ensured something was delivered to our room before we left. Similarly the concierge was a font of knowledge about the city and its sights and the excursions available. A lovely guy and again nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel as if we were the hotels most important guests.
