Outer Barrier Reef
Agincourt Ribbon Reef - Discover the Outer Barrier Reef: Quicksilver takes you to Agincourt Reef, at the very outer edge of the Barrier Reef. Here, special reefs known as 'ribbons' run parallel to the Continental Shelf.
Adjacent to the Coral Sea trench, these ribbon reefs are recognised as the most pristine eco-systems in the reef's environment.
Clear water provides the best possible underwater visibility, encourages rich coral growth and supports spectacular marine life. As the region's outer reef pioneer, we chose the best location available to show you nature's finest.
Experience nature's finest with Australia's best: Entering the dramatic beauty of the Great Barrier Reef is an extraordinary experience. It's a day that engages all your senses, lifts your spirit and takes you into another realm.
Sharing the wonder of the world's largest living entity, realising its breathtaking colour and majesty, seeing nature at its most perfect is an awakening and, quite simply, the memory of a lifetime. Come and experience nature's finest with Australia's best. At Agincourt ribbon reef, you'll feel as if you've embraced paradise.
Comfort and Space - Too much of a good thing is wonderful: Your journey is as important as your destination. It's a modern voyage, travelling in safety and air-conditioned comfort with state-of-the-art vessels that glide across the water to spacious platforms floating at the reef's edge.
Walk into the underwater observatory, or cruise just above the corals in a semi-submersible. Your questions answered, your needs anticipated, your care assured, you're free to enjoy the moment and savour the discoveries. From coaches, to cruises, to crew, it's a day that's all about you.

Overview
With the widest range of Great Barrier Reef experiences, Quicksilver offers a choice of award-winning day trips to the magnificent Outer Barrier Reef and the idyllic Low Isles.
Quicksilver was founded in 1979 with one vessel, a catamaran, which took guests to the Low Isles. This was the first ever commercial trip to these idyllic coral cays, and visitors coming to the small fishing village of Port Douglas, just north of nearby Cairns, were quick to embrace the concept. Just a few years later in 1983, we pioneered Australia's first true Outer Barrier Reef cruise, travelling right to the ribbon reefs at the outer edge of the Continental Shelf - one of the very best locations to experience the full majesty and elemental force of this unique natural wonder.
Today, Quicksilver has become a highly sophisticated company with a fleet of the most advanced Australian made cruising vessels. We have been honoured many times with awards and voted Australia's best tour operator, but we can only take half the credit. Nature provides the reef and we're proud to take you to where the very best of nature's work is found.
We are committed to sustainable environmental practices and ongoing conservation for future generations to enjoy. Our Reef Biosearch environmental division is led by the largest team of marine biologists outside of a government agency! In fact, Reef Biosearch has the longest logbook database of marine observations on the Great Barrier Reef, ongoing for over two decades. All of our tours are accredited with Advanced Ecotourism Certification and each day, our team of marine biologists are also on hand to ensure our guests gain an appreciation of our World Heritage environment.
We are sure you will enjoy your day with us, experiencing nature's finest with Australia's best.
At Quicksilver, we would like all of our guests to leave us as ambassadors for reef protection and preservation.

Recommended for: Families with small children, couples, honeymooners, water enthusiasts
Pros: Participating in the full day tour based out of Port Douglas, we enjoyed our experience of exploring three parts of the Great Barrier Reef. From check in to boarding the ship, the process was easy and personalized by a photographer taking pictures. Once on board, the staff is welcoming as a delicious morning tea is served. Should you forget anything from a towel to a camera, the staff was very accommodating in arranging hire options. The photographer was available again once in water should you not want to have to hire a camera! Originally we had arranged snorkeling, however the staff talked us into participating in an introductory scuba lesson, which is highly recommended. Herold, a fabulous dive coach from Holland, was incredible. Being very patient and humorous, we enjoyed our first dive experience with him and are excited to dive again in the future. Snorkeling at the remaining two sights was incredible as even though there were several people in the water, you didn't feel claustrophobic, but snorkeling on your own at times. Staff was approachable and very knowledgeable of the reef should you have any questions. Complementary guided snorkeling tours and reef presentations were given once on board. Dinning on ship was delicious and accommodating should you have any food restrictions. Overall our experience on this tour was incredible and was easily our favorite day of our entire vacation. We highly recommend this product to those looking for smaller grouped tours while enjoying an incredible reef experience.
Cons: This tour exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our entire trip. I have nothing negative to say about it and would highly recommend it.
