Black Rock, or Pu`u Keka`a in Hawaiian, is known as an Ancient Hawaiian holiday retreat for royalty (Ali`i). As in olden days, there are endless ocean activities such as clear-water snorkeling with turtles, sailing on the Teralani, kayaking with dolphins, scuba diving and deep sea fishing, all nearby our spectacular 23-acre ocean-front resort.

In addition to Ka'anapali Beach, the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa offers a plethora of Hawaiian cultural activities to help you experience the Spirit of Aloha. Spend your days learning the ancient art of Hula, adorning yourself with fresh flower leis created by you or learning the ukulele with our Aloha Ambassadors.

Nearby, the charming town of Lahaina promises even more fun and exciting experiences including entertainment, cultural events and world-class shopping and dining.

The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa is the premier location for a dream Hawaiian vacation. Situated on Kaanapali Beach, the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa is the most romantic escape in all the Hawaiian Islands… the dramatic point at which the legendary Black Rock of Kaanapali meets the ocean. Anchored by the Black Rock itself, this spectacular Maui hotel beckons hopeless romantics, discerning honeymooners, and fun-seeking families.

Almost all of our 508 rooms and suites directly face the Pacific, with a private lanai for contemplating the view. Inside, the craftsmanship of old Hawai'i reveals itself in lamps of bamboo design, patterns recalling block prints on kapa, and rattan chairs drawing on the peacock shapes of ancient thrones.

Our unique 'Ohana (Family) Suites encompass two spacious and adaptable rooms. And at the pinnacle of Pu'u Keka'a, an atmosphere of exclusivity reigns. On the highest level rises the Ali'i Suite, surrounding you with prized artwork, from authentic koa bowls and drums to original Matson menu covers from the 1930s whose images have defined Hawai'i for generations.

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa is proud to announce
we are a smoke free resort.

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   This was our first trip to Maui and it's clear this was one of the first major resorts in the area. It's in a beautiful location and spread out much more than the other close resorts. The grounds are well maintained and there's plenty of areas to find privacy. The hotel is currently under renovation but they do a great job at no letting that interfere. We were there in early Feb so the beach area was very small. So small they don't put the chairs and cabanas on the beach. They said this will change in a few months and the beachline comes back for the summer. Overall, the experience was good and we would stay again.

Review:   The ocean front rooms have a beautiful view, we were in building 6. The tower is far from the rest of the resort (3 different elevators to get to the lobby/restaurants) but has its own self parking lot. You can't see any of the property from the room just the ocean, Molokai and a different beach and resort off in the distance. The room/hotel felt old/worn, found an ant every once in a while. Wish there was a couch, but pulling the two chairs together worked fine for room service and tv watching. Staff was friendly, fire pits and restaurants were nice. Gift shop had a good selection of sundries and snacks(mostly junk food, no ice cream though). The lawns are well manicured, not much else though, a walk around the property in boring. Didn't feel too crowded (in January).

Review:   Once you get over how dated this hotel is (hello brown and mustard pattern carpet), its actually not too bad. The staff are helpful and attentive when required. The rooms are kept clean. The location next to Black Rock is quite amazing. Value for money is not the greatest (there is an extra charge attached to pretty much everything) and the stupid resort fee that is so prevalent with Hawaiian hotels is something to suck up. Having said that, in my experience, the stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

Review:   Staying at Black Rock was like a little piece of heaven! Beautiful beaches, snorkeling, and the cliff divers nightly were only the tip of the iceberg. The pools ate lovely, the gardens were breath taking, and the waterfalls were fabulous. The location was perfect, and we are looking forward to visiting again soon!

Review:   I really love the rooms that are out by the ocean near " black rock" The sunset views are amazing. No 5 stars because rooms are looking old and worn. Sevice and hospitality was excellent. I highly recommend seeing the sunset ceremony and torch lighting of black rock each night!
