Chania Town & Beyond...A Value Shared TourExplore > Greece > Crete > Chania Town & Beyond...A Value Shared TourOverviewA wonderful half-day tour of picturesque Chania and its surroundings! Your tour will begin with your guide meeting you in the port of Souda, You will begin the tour with a beautiful drive and a visit to the 16th-Century monastery of Chrysopigi, approximately 3km south of Chania. The monastery has a long and fascinating history and is dedicated to our Lady of the Life-Giving Spring, who is known popularly as ‘Chrysopigi’, the Golden Fountain. Since 1976 it has operated as a nunnery and its inhabitants organically cultivate around 130 acres of land with olive, tangerine, orange, avocado, fig, apricot trees and vegetable gardens. The tour will then take a short break for photos at the Chrysopigi, where you can enjoy the panoramic view over Chania Bay, before we reach the old quarters, crumbling harbor and 15th-Century lighthouse of Chania Town. Crete's most beautiful urban district, Chania was once surrounded by Venetian fortifications, the western and eastern sections of which survive to this day. Your walking tour will take you through colorful neighbourhoods and allow you to visit the most important sites - including the Archaeological Museum, the Cathedral, the Leather Lane and the Market Hall - as well as plenty of areas off the beaten track, which will give you a chance to experience the unique atmosphere and eclectic influences of Chania. - Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. - We recommend that you bring sunscreen, hat, and bottled water as it gets extremely hot at times. - Entrance fees are not included. - Food, beverages, and gratuities are not included. - There is a dress code if you wish to enter Cathedrals, Churches, Monasteries and other religious sites. Ladies must cover their shoulders. Both males & females must cover their knees. Sometimes the tour has the opportunity to enter the Duomo, please ensure shoulders and knees are covered otherwise you will be refused entry. We would suggest clients wear long trousers for this tour as they visit THE MONASTERY. - This tour includes light walking. - This tour requires a minimum of 4 participants for all cruise ships. There is a maximum of 24 participants per departure. - You are purchasing a shared tour and you will be expected to maintain the pace of the group. - If you use a walker, wheelchair, or scooter, or if you have mobility problems, we suggest that you purchase a private tour for your best enjoyment.
