Private: Family-Focused Venice Walking Tour And Gondola RideExplore > Italy > Venice > Private: Family-Focused Venice Walking Tour And Gondola Ride
OverviewSee the highlights and the hidden gems of the City of Canals. Venice can be overwhelming...unless you have a professional guide and expert at keeping kids engaged leading the way. Experience iconic sites and enjoy activities the whole family will love. This day of adventure begins by discovering why Venice is known as the City of Canals. With your own private gondola and gondolier, you'll take in the sites of the city as your gondolier steers through the inner canals, the Grand Canal and under the Rialto Bridge. To add to the authenticity of this iconic experience, ask your gondolier to sing for you. Upon arriving at the Rialto Bridge, it’s time to explore the city on foot. With game booklet in hand, let the kids lead the way from the Rialto Bridge to the Bridge of Sighs. With a little help from your guide, you'll navigate Venice's maze of narrow alleyways to discover the Bovolo Staircase, a place most tourists never see. Climb the spiraling 80 steps of this hidden architectural gem for a little exercise and fantastic views of the city. Walking through the old theater district, you'll pass the famous Gran Teatro la Fenice, (La Fenice Opera House). Founded in 1792, and devastated by 2 fires, this opulent, celebrated opera house has twice risen from the ashes to become one of the most famous and renowned landmarks of Italian opera and theater. Last, but certainly not least, you'll explore St. Mark's Square, the most well-known location in all of Venice. St. Mark's Basilica's opulent exterior is a fabulous combination of Byzantine and Eastern influences and remains one of the most recognizable buildings in the city. Your guide has many interesting tales of intrigue and kidnapping to share about this fascinating church. The Doge’s Palace, the very symbol of Venice, is a Gothic masterpiece and was the seat of Venetian power for over nine centuries. As you pass by the Bridge of Sighs, one of the most famous bridges in Venice, your guide will relate its sad history. This enclosed structure of white limestone is considered to be one of the finest examples of bridge architecture in the world. - Cruise ship guests will need to take a 25-30 minute taxi ride to the meeting location of this tour.
