OverviewFrom Arthur Conan Doyle to J.K. Rowling, see and hear what inspired these and other famous authors. Whether you've read Peter Pan to your children at bedtime or they've had their noses buried in a Harry Potter adventure, books have a way of transporting us to another world. Now you can experience the actual locations that inspired some of the world's most famous authors to create works of literature that are near and dear to our hearts. This tour is sure to thrill and engage children of all ages as well as their parents. Your knowledgeable guide will first take you to the graveyard of Greyfriars Bobby, the dedicated little Skye Terrier who stood guard over his master's final resting place for 14 years. It is this same graveyard where J. K. Rowling found inspiration for the names of some of the most popular characters in the Harry Potter books. There are many other locations around town with a connection to J.K. Rowling and H.P., including the places she actually wrote some of the adventures of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Your guide will lead you to the house of Robert Louis Stevenson, author of the adventure book Treasure Island, and the infamous Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and lead you in the footsteps of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of the world's most famous detective and master of deductive reasoning, Sherlock Holmes. Hear fun facts and secrets behind these and other stories that will be familiar to you and your children. Your guide will discuss the theories of Scottish philosopher David Hume as you climb rugged volcanic Carlton Hill, located right in the center of the city.
