Visby And Gotland - West Coast HighlightsExplore > Sweden > Visby > Visby And Gotland - West Coast HighlightsOverviewDiscover Visby's hidden history! Visby is Sweden's hidden gem! Because of its unique cultural values, the Hanseatic Town of Visby has been listed by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage. Behind the town wall with its 44 guard towers, this medieval stone city awaits your discovery. The tour goes to the Southern West coast, starting with a visit in Gnisvärd in the parish of Tofta, where you will find a picturesque fishing village dating back to 1700. A visit at an unusual gravesite from the Bronze Age is included. The gravestones are arranged in the shape of a ship to carry the departed through eternity. You will travel through the agricultural districts. There are almost 100 medieval churches on the island which still are in use. You will visit one of them before proceeding to the Gallows Hill, a historical place where executions of criminals were carried out in the past. You will also enter the walled city of Visby through the Dalman Tower for a guided walk through the narrow medieval streets. You’ll pass by St. Mary’s Cathedral on the way to Almedalen, where you will rejoin your driver and return to the ship. - Please wear comfortable walking shoes. - Order of sights may vary – we trust in our guides to plan the best possible route, considering conditions of the day.
