Stand-Up Paddleboard Ocean AdventureExplore > United States > Ketchikan > Stand-Up Paddleboard Ocean AdventureOverviewA fun and exciting way to discover the ocean wilderness just outside of Ketchikan. If you thought stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) was only for the tropics, think again! With the help of a wetsuit, you can explore Alaska's waters on top of your colorful paddleboard while remaining cozy and warm. Following a pickup at the cruise ship pier, you will take a 15-minute drive to your departure point. Arriving at a family-owned float house, you will already have been versed on Ketchikan's long history, which provides the perfect talking point while getting outfitted with your wetsuit, life jacket, water socks, and paddleboard. A lesson in stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) will be provided by guides who are certified by the PSUPA (Professional Stand Up Paddling Association). All it takes is a sense of adventure and a little balance and before you know it, you'll be paddling like a pro. It's time to enjoy the shoreline of the amazing Tongass National Forest while "standing" on the water. As you paddle, you might spot an eagle soaring overhead, harbor seals poking their noses through the water's surface or colorful starfish and sea urchins along the shoreline. Perhaps you might even catch a glimpse of a humpback whale in the distance. After about a mile of paddling, you will have earned a break and a snack. Afterward, rested and refreshed, jump into the cool, clear water for a swim or relax on your board, taking in all you have just seen and done. Take one more gaze across the water before heading back to the dock downtown, where a hot drink will be waiting for you. - Please bring a swimsuit, a towel and a dry change of clothing for after the tour. - You will be outfitted with a life jacket, wetsuit, water socks and a paddleboard. - The minimum age to participate is 16 years old. - There is a weight limit of 300 pounds. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
