Best Of Gdansk...A Shoretrips Value Shared TourExplore > Poland > Gdansk > Best Of Gdansk...A Shoretrips Value Shared TourOverviewDiscover Gdansk and it's rich history! Gdansk is a city that will surprise you and leave you inspired. With a unique history, this city is unlike any other in Poland. A rich juxtaposition of medieval heritage and modern European charm will be revealed as you explore this city. We begin with a panoramic drive from the port and will stop at the Oliwa Archcathedral, where the collection of Baroque, Rococo, and Renaissance art will captivate you. Not to mention, this church is home to world famous Baroque organs dating back to the 18th century. Often referred to as the "City of Solidarity," Gdansk was at the forefront of resistance to Soviet communism. Before embarking on a walking tour of the old town, we will stop at the "Solidarity Monument," which commemorates the death of 28 shipyard workers who were shot by the Communist regime in December 1970. Today, this monument also symbolizes the power of the Polish people who helped to reform Poland post-Soviet control. Next, we will stroll along the streets of Old Gdansk, where your guide will introduce you to the medieval history found here, as well as both German and Slavic influences that remain today. Walk the cobble streets of Old Gdansk and discover the Upland Gate, Golden Gate, Royal Rout, Main Town Hall, Artus Court, and much more. We'll pass by the former residence of the Polish Monarchs, the Golden House, and Green Gate. We'll also walk down St. Mary's Street, leading to St. Mary's Basilica, the largest brick church in the world. Before returning to the pier, you will have approximately 90 minutes to stroll the Motlawa riverbank. Take time for lunch, shopping, or perhaps a coffee break at one of the many cafes here. Don't forget your camera. The scenery here is some of the best in all of Europe. - All admission fees are included in the cost of this tour, as well as one bottle of water per person. - We suggest you bring cash for lunch and shopping. - This tour takes a maximum of 25 people. - You are purchasing a shared tour and you will be expected to maintain the pace of the group.
