Overview

A more complex look at Boston- Faneuil Hall, Celtic Stadium, Newbury St., North End, Big Dig & more!

This tour has a similar itinerary to "Boston for Beginners", but incorporates Chinatown, "Brinks Bank Robbery" site, Cheers, Trinity Church, Boston Garden, "Big Dig" sites, and more.

Trace the roots of independence in Boston. Explore the Freedom Trail and 235 years of history. Start at the Old State House where the Declaration of Independence was first read in Boston on July 18, 1776 and has been read every July 4th since then.

We'll then continue on to see the Old Granary Burying Ground, past Boston Common and the Public Garden, where we'll see the famous Swan Boats. We'll pass Cheers, the State House (with its magnificent gold dome), and stop at the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial. We'll go through Beacon Hill, one of the most exclusive residential areas of Boston, including Senator John Kerry's home.

From Beacon Hill, we'll drive down Newbury Street with its exclusive designers and boutique stores. We'll pass Copley Square and see the gorgeous Trinity Church, and then travel past The Christian Science Monitor Church and reflective pool, as well as the theater district of Boston and Chinatown.

By this time, you'll be hungry for lunch, so we'll head to Faneuil Hall (also known as Quincy Market), where there's an enticing variety of shops, pushcart vendors, cafes, and more. Grab a bite to eat, but don't forget to save room for dessert!

Following lunch, we'll head to the North End, to see the Old North Church, that famous location for the hanging of the lanterns indicating the approach of the British and the ride of Paul Revere. Passing Mike’s Pastry Shop, famous for Italian pastry of all kinds and one of President Clinton's favorite stops, we'll proceed to Paul Revere’s House.

As we leave The North End, we'll pass Boston Garden, home of the World Champion Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, and see the site of the “Brinks Bank Car Robbery,” Bunker Hill, the USS Constitution, and more! Throughout this tour, you'll see the many improvements in the city through the “Big Dig” project.

Our final stop will take us across the Charles River to Cambridge, where we'll walk the yard of Harvard University. Afterward, we'll head back to the cruise ship pier or your hotel.

- The cost of meals/food is not included. Cold bottled water, hand sanitizer, and tissues are available for your comfort.
- This is a private tour so the itinerary is somewhat flexible. Please let your guide know if there's something specific you would like to see. Your guide will do his/her best to accommodate your request.

- Please note that the Swan Boats are removed on October 1 and the USS Constitution is closed on Mondays.
