Tian Tan Buddha And Lantau Monastery - Cruise Ship PassengersExplore > Hong Kong > Tian Tan Buddha And Lantau Monastery - Cruise Ship Passengers
OverviewThe multiple forms of transportation all add to the enjoyment and education of your experience. This is a fabulous excursion outside the city of Hong Kong. This is the way you really understand what the culture is about. You may notice that cable cars and aerial trams are frequent modes of transportation in Asia. They are scenic, swift, and efficient. So you won't be surprised when, after arriving at Tung Chung New Town located near the airport, you will have a chance to enjoy your 20-25 minute cable car ride Delivering stunning views as you head to the Ngong Ping Plateau, this comfortable ride in the crystal cabin receives incredible 'must-do' reports. Its glass bottom offers an astonishing bird’s eye view of the magical deep blue sea and lush green mountainside underneath your feet. As you step out of the cable car, you will be greeted by the culturally themed 1.5-hectare Ngong Ping Village, where a wide array of shops and eateries in Ngong Ping Village offer a delightful shopping and dining experience. This is Hong Kong's newest attractions and it features a multimedia presentation called 'Walking with Buddha' which follows the life of Siddhartha Gautama - the man who became Buddha - and his path to enlightenment. The story begins with a unique Bodhi Tree experience in the courtyard. Through the mist and incense, the voice of the Bodhi Tree introduces the story of a man who asked himself "Who am I and why am I here?" This is the story of how a man named Siddhartha became Buddha. This will be particularly relevant as you continue your tour to see the majestic Giant Buddha and the nearby Po Lin Monastery. You will have a guided tour of both and the grounds upon which they share. Just a short walk away is the Wisdom Path, where you will see ancient prayers or sutra inscribed on a series of wooden columns set in a figure of eight to symbolize infinity. Just a short ride from here is a unique fishing village where many of the homes are built on stilts. Your walk through this small town will deliver ample opportunities to see the lifestyle of many who live outside of the bustling sophisticated lifestyle of Hong Kong, yet whose lives seem full in themselves. You will continue by boarding your vehicle which will bring you back to the ferry pier where another form of transportation, the public ferry, will transfer you through the incredibly busy harbor, past ocean-going ships, to the pier in Hong Kong. This tour will be the one day where your opportunities for photographs will take you beyond the norm and each, when viewing them once back home, will take your memories back to Hong Kong. - Food, beverages, gratuities are not included. - Due to security reasons and pier regulations there is a charge for vehicles to enter the pier and pick up travelers. This charge is included in the tour price for pickups but left out for your return drop off. From outside the terminal, the walk to the Kai Tak pier is approximately 800 meters and the walk to the Ocean pier is 800 meters. Ships often don't know what pier they are docking at until the day of the tour. If you don't want to walk back to the ship from outside the terminal please purchase the additional pier drop off option at the time of checkout. This must be purchased prior to your departure.
