Almond Beach Resort offers a range of accommodations from elegant ocean view rooms to family sized suites. These provide a comfortable place to rest after an active day of diving, snorkeling or exploring the magic of Belize.
Our beachfront resort is located in the Stann Creek District, south of Belize City on the mainland coast of Belize. We are close to a number of Belize's national parks, Mayan ruins, and world famous diving and fishing. We offer many different tours to explore the eco-wonders of Belize's diverse wildlife and landscape. Guests have free access to kayaks and mountain bikes to undertake their own Belize adventures.
Paddle a kayak along the beach or set off to False Sittee Point and watch the pelicans and frigate birds nesting in the mangroves and fishing the point. You can set off on bikes and explore Hopkins Village where you will find local restaurants and bars. Or ride over to the Sittee River and try your hand at birding or spotting iguanas, crocodiles, manatees or dolphins that occasionally swim up river. Or maybe you will just want to do some beach combing along the 7 miles of uninterrupted beach that runs from nearby False Sittee Point to Hopkins Village.
Almond Beach Belize is an outstanding beach resort, small enough that you matter, and large enough to have all the amenities you look for. It is located on a 7 mile section of beautiful beach by the Caribbean Sea which is ideal for adventure travel in Belize.
We are a Canadian family and our son Dave, has lived in Belize for almost two decades.
We built Almond Beach Belize to respond to requests from guests for private, comfortable, beachside accommodation to return to after a high energy day diving, snorkeling the reef or exploring the magic of Belize.
Our resort was opened in December 2004, and we spent all of that year sourcing Central America for the unique touches which we knew would make Almond Beach unique in Belize.
We used craftsmen in Belize to build our hand-carved beds, tables and storage units. Two Nicaraguan carvers spend several months carving the decorative posts and beams that support our roofs, porches and verandas. Marble and granite counter tops and sinks came from Guatemala and our tiles and bathroom murals, from Mexico. Our original art work, slate carvings, pots and statues came from local artists in Belize, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Our swim-up Tiki Bar and Beachfront Casitas were thatched with local leaf brought out of the nearby jungle, and our floors and furniture are made from an amazing range of local woods including mahogany, cabbage bark and barba jalote.
On May 1st 2007, we opened our new section of our beachfront resort at Almond Beach Belize. This comprised of two exciting new Beachfront Veranda Suites - enabling us to offer a premium location for small families, yards from the sea; and our new, comfortable 3,500 square feet Owners Penthouse, ideal for larger groups travelling together, weddings, and family reunions. We also added our new Penthouse and Hummingbird Suites, built on the third floor of our Colonial building offering spectacular sea views and at Christmas this year we will open new rooms and suites that complete our resort locations with a third pool and elegant courtyard.
In November 2009 we added a brand new coffee shop where you can relax and taste test the best coffee from the seven countries of Central America.
If fishing is your passion we are within easy reach of some of the best fishing in the world and we offer fly fishing, with spin casting and trolling as alternate options. Make this the year you go for the Grand Slam - permit, snook, bonefish and tarpon, in our reef fishing paradise.
