The Godfather Tour: Savoca - TaorminaExplore > Italy > Taormina > The Godfather Tour: Savoca - TaorminaOverviewSee Taormina, one of Sicily's greatest resorts, and Savoca, famous for scenes in the Godfather! Travel from the cruise ship pier into the lovely Sicilian countryside. First you will admire beautiful Taormina which is located high on a mountaintop overlooking one of the most breathtaking harbors in the Mediterranean. The town is known for its wonderful scenery as well as its position as one of Sicily's chicest resort towns. This is a gorgeous town with a romantic atmosphere and plenty of excellent restaurants, bars, shopping and plazas to relax and enjoy a cappuccino. You will also want to visit the Teatro Greco, the most impressive monument of the city. Built in the 3rd-century BC, the Teatro is still used today for open-air concerts. Finish your tour in Savoca, the filming location for the Corleone scenes in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather II! Visit the Bar Vitelli, where the character Michael asked the padrone for his daughter's hand in marriage, and enjoy one of their famous "granitas." - The price of this tour does not include the 8€ per person admission to the Greek Theater. - If you choose the licensed guide option, he/she will meet you in Taormina and spend 2 hours covering the sites you wish to visit. There may be an occasional port change from Taormina/Naxos to Messina caused by periodic high winds. Messina is accessible to the same sightseeing as Taormina, but is a slightly longer ride. This port requires an increase in cost as the distance from these highlights is further (50 Euros paid to the driver.) Often this change is last-minute and we ask you to have your purser call the number provided on your voucher to advise the driver/escort of the change so they can reach you as quickly as possible. We have found that travelers are willing to pay this fee rather than sacrificing a day of exploring in Sicily. Your guide will be waiting for you as you disembark or, at a minimum, might be slightly delayed but will meet you. You may have an slight adjustment to your tour itinerary depending on your exit time, but be assured that your knowledgeable driver/escort will direct you to a satisfying day. If you aren’t interested in continuing the tour because of this port change please have your purser contact the emergency number provided on your voucher and you will be refunded in full.
