Visit the Basilica of St. John and the magnificent archaeological site of Ephesus.
After meeting your official Turkish guide at cruise ship pier, you will continue to Selcuk, where the Roman city of Ephesus is located.
Upon arriving, you will visit Basilica of St. John, built in 6th century to house his tomb chamber. It is believed that St. John spent his last years in the region around Ephesus, and 300 years after his death a small chapel was constructed over his grave. During the reign of Emperor Justinian, the small chapel was changed into a marvelous basilica.
Then continue on to Ephesus, one of the most magnificent and best-preserved ancient sites in the world. Ephesus was founded by the Amazons, but now it is more commonly believed to have been the Hittite city of Apasa. Tour the site, including the Celsus Library, whose facade has been carefully reconstructed from all original pieces, the Great Theatre with a seating capacity of 25,000 people, and the Temple of Hadrian.
All entrance fees are included in the price of this tour. The cost of lunch, drinks or any other extras are not included.
