Mt. Etna is Sicily's tallest peak and one of Europe's most famous active volcanoes. It is the largest volcano in Europe, nearly three times as large as Italy's next largest active volcano, Mount Vesuvius.

From Messina's port we will drive in the direction or Mount Etna, passing through the nice villages of Piedimonte and Linguaglossa on the way.
Although it is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, in general it is not regarded as being particularly dangerous and thousands of people live on its slopes and in the surrounding areas. The volcano is about 3,300 metres high, and your vehicle will take you up to about 2,000 metres to see the forest, distinguished craters, solid lava, and more; get out to take a closer look in the most interesting spots. Everything will be enhanced by the explanation of your guide.
After Mt. Etna you will continue on to Taormina, located high on a mountaintop above the harbor. The town is known for its wonderful scenery as well as its position as one of Sicily's chicest resort towns. This is a gorgeous town with a romantic atmosphere and plenty of excellent restaurants, bars, shopping and plazas to relax and enjoy a cappuccino. You may also choose to visit the Teatro Greco, the most impressive monument of the city.
• It is about a 2 hour drive from Messina to Mt. Etna. The drive from Taormina to Messina takes about 1 hour.
• The price of this tour does not include the 6€ per person admission to the Greek Theater.
• Please pick the departure time starting 30 minutes after you dock.
• From March to May & from October to November: Pack winter coats and wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots.
• From June to September: Pack a waterproof shell and dress in layers. Wear comfortable shoes or sneakers and bring along sun screen, sunglasses and a hat.
