Aix, And Les Baux...A Shoretrips Premium Shared Van TourExplore > France > Marseille > Aix, And Les Baux...A Shoretrips Premium Shared Van Tour
OverviewThe charm of these stops will make you wish you could stay in southern France forever. ShoreTrips' PREMIUM shared van tours are a perfect choice if you are looking for a deluxe tour that's economical but without the crowds of a big bus. We will confirm your reservaton when we have at least 5 passengers booked. You will be notified about two weeks prior to the start of the cruise with options of more expensive private trips if we are not able to run the shared tour. This tour includes: • Round trip transportation from the cruise ship pier • English-speaking driver Visit to: • Aix-en-Provence • Les Baux de Provence A short drive away is Aix-en-Provence, the city of art, and a city of light and activity. Aix is also home to art schools and several universities, including some American, attracting a youthful population that sparks the atmosphere. The center of Aix is the old town (vieille ville), ringed by a circle of boulevards and squares. It's small enough to explore by foot, but there's way too much to see in one or even two days. The medieval Aix was protected by a wall with 39 towers. Today, only the 14th century "Tourreluquo" tower remains, at the northwest corner of the town. The old town of Aix is packed with shops, markets, museums, and religious, architectural, and historical sites. The terrace cafés on the Place des Précheurs (by the flower market) attract many of the younger locals, with lower prices than those on the Cours Mirabeau. Now you are going to enjoy a beautiful ride in the French countryside to the lovely Les Baux de Provence. An imposing 12th century castle dominates the pleasant little perched village. Les Baux is well restored and well tended, and the amazing big castle (rebuilt in the 16th century and restored in 1960) gives the village an ever-present mood of medievality. Here it's easy to imagine knights and ladies and even dragons. Lovely and unspoiled by tourist attractions, the narrow streets wind between charming old buildings with many little squares and fountains hidden away for discovery. You can easily see the fascination with this area, the edge of the Luberon, with rolling hills full of perched villages surprising you at the end of a turn in the road. Admissions, food, and beverages are not included in the cost of this tour. Please keep in mind that this is a shared tour. It is not private. The tour operator must maintain his schedule for a fair and successful day for all. • Each van holds a maximum of 8 passengers. • This tour requires a minimum of 5 passengers.
