Overview
If you only have a half-day here, spend the whole of it in either Taormina or Etna - don't share!
A wonderful place for a drink after visiting the Teatro Greco is the Grand Hotel Timeo, located just a few feet from the theater. Walk through the lobby to the panoramic terrace and you will be able to look upward behind you at the theater and down below you to the sea.
Welcome to Taormina, located high on a mountaintop above the harbor. The town is known for its wonderful scenery as well as its position as one of Sicily's chicest resort towns. Here you will get fantastic views of the sea and of nearby Mt. Etna, as well as a quaint medieval-village atmosphere.
Upon arrival in Taormina you will visit The Teatro Greco, the most impressive monument of the city. The theater was originally built by the Romans in the 3rd century, and it has been used to host everything from musicals to gladiator. Also visit San Nicolo di Bari, the 13th century Duomo, and the Public Gardens, home to some 200 different plants and a lovely pagoda. The Museo Archeologico di Taormina is interesting and set on the site of the ancient Roman baths.
If you consider yourself a shopper, you will be stretching your neck as you walk past one lovely boutique after another. But if you are really a shopper, you will find yourself inside a few of them.
Food, beverages, entrance fees, and optional gratuities are not included in the price of this tour.
