Overview

This is a lovely tour beginning in Lubeck.

This tour combines the UNESCO world heritage site of Lubeck with the Swedish splendor of Wismar. As both cities used to be members of the Hanseatic League, this tour proposes to reveal truly cultural treasures.

Enjoy a wonderful city tour of Lubeck and Wismar.

Your first stop will be Lubeck, one of the most important mercantile towns in the Baltic. Lubeck is actually the second largest city in Schleswig-Holstein, in northern Germany, and one of the major ports of Germany. It's even on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites for its brick Gothic architecture! We'll also see City Hall and the Holstentor.

Next, we're off to visit St. Mary’s Church, constructed sometime between 1250 and 1350. For many years it's been a symbol of the power and prosperity of the old Hanseatic city. The church is the third largest church in all of Germany and is the tallest building in the old part of Lubeck. Along with the city, the church has been listed by UNESCO as being of cultural significance.

Next, we'll go into the lively main shopping mile to the world-famous Niederegger shop (it's been around since 1806!), where you'll have the opportunity to indulge your sweet tooth with delicious marzipan treats! Even if you're not a marzipan fan, you'll be amazed by the gorgeous and intricate window displays!

During the second part of the city tour, we'll focus more on the history of the Hanseatic League and you will see more highlights such as the Schifferngesellschaft and Holy Ghost Hospice.

Then we'll be on to Wismar! The historical towers of Wismar’s impressive old churches will amaze you from far away. Huge warehouses, imposing brick Gothic and old walls give evidence of the Hanseatic League. Discover the beautiful Swedish architecture when walking along the Market Square. See the Wasserkunst, Art of Water, as well as the classicistic city hall before it is time to take leave and return to the ship.

- The cost of lunch is included in the price of this tour. We will have lunch in a historical restaurant in the city center of Lubeck. It is a 2-course-menu with typical German food (sausages, chicken, etc.), plus a drink of the guest's choice.
