Overview
See Ireland's oldest city and tour the world-famous House of Waterford Crystal factory!
Take a visual journey over more than 225 years of glass making and see how each individual piece of crystal is created by highly skilled craftsmen using unique and traditional methods.
Famed for its matchless lead crystal, the city of Waterford was founded by Viking invaders in the 9th century and is Ireland’s oldest city. In fact, Waterford is older than any of the major Nordic capitals of modern Europe, including Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen.
In recent years, a major archaeological endeavor has excavated nearly a fourth of the ancient Viking city. And the historic district around Reginald's Tower is also quite intriguing.
But Waterford is primarily a commercial center, dominated by its busy port and known for its crystal factory. The new House of Waterford Crystal comprises a working crystal factory, fascinating visitor center, and opulent retail store, housing the largest collection of Waterford Crystal in the world. You will take a guided factory tour, giving you first-hand access to all areas of traditional crystal production.
