OverviewCartagena is rich with history. See it all on this comprehensive walking tour. The port of Cartagena, in the southeast center of Spain on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, has been prized since Carthaginian times. Thanks to its strategic position on the Murcia coast, it has been inhabited by several cultures which have left their mark on its artistic heritage. The port itself is rich in ancient and maritime history. The town is walled, the harbor defended by forts, and Roman ruins are scattered throughout. We will start this comprehensive walking tour by visiting the Punic Wall, essentially the wall that was cerated to protect the city. Your guide will fill you in on all of the interesting history surrounding this area, and of course will be available for any questions. Next, we continue past the university and after hearing about more of the background of the area, you'll see the Panoramic elevator and the Civil War Air Raid Shelter Museum, fascinating. We will make sure you also visit Torres Park, with its Castle of la Concepción, the oldest in the city (XIV century). Also find here the Plaza de Toros (Bullring), under whose arena the remains of the legendary Roman Amphitheater can be found. A tour of the Historical Center of the city, of course, before you enjoy some free time in the shopping area for souvenirs of the city. - Food, beverages, entrance fees and gratuities are not included in the price. - This is an all walking tour, so please dress comfortably and for the weather. - You will see all of the sites mentioned, but possibly in a different order.
