Christian Galilee & Jesus Trail - ClassicExplore > Israel > Haifa > Christian Galilee & Jesus Trail - ClassicOverviewSee Nazareth, The Sea of Galilee, Jesus Trail and the Jordan River. Included in this tour: - Private vehicle - English Speaking driver/guide On this tour you will have an opportunity to see: - Jesus Trail - Nazareth - Tiberius - Tabgha - Capernaum - Mount of Beatitudes We'll travel down the Jesus Trail. The Jesus Trail is the pilgrimage route in the Galilee region of Israel that traces the route Jesus may have walked, connecting many sites from his life and ministry. We've chosen the most important sites along the route, beginning with a visit to Nazareth. Nazareth is the childhood home of Jesus and therefore, an important stop and a center of Christian pilgrimage with many shrines at the site. We'll also go to the famous St. Mary's Well. Next, we're off to The Sea of Galilee (Lake Tiberius), where much of the ministry of Jesus occurred. In fact, many of Jesus's disciples were fishermen here. We'll visit the three most important sites at the lake, considering our timeframe: Tabgha, Capernaum and The Mount of Beatitudes. First off is Tabgha, the traditional site of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes (Mark 6:30-46) and the third resurrection appearance of Jesus (John 21:1-24) in Christianity. Next is Capernaum, an important settlement on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. The town is mentioned in the New Testament: in the Gospel of Luke it was reported to have been the home of the apostles Peter, Andrew, James and John, as well as the tax collector Matthew. In Matthew 4:13 the town was reported to have been the home of Jesus himself. According to Luke 4:31-44, Jesus taught in the synagogue in Capernaum on the sabbath days. In Capernaum also, Jesus allegedly healed a man who had the spirit of an unclean devil and healed a fever in Simon Peter's mother-in-law. According to Matthew 8:5-13, it is also the place where a Roman Centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant. A building which may have been a synagogue of that period has been found beneath the remains of a later synagogue. Finally, we will visit the traditional location for Mount of Beatitudes, which is the famous hill where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. The traditional location for the Mount of Beatitudes is on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee, between Capernaum and Gennesaret (Ginosar). The actual location of the Sermon on the Mount is not certain, but the present site (also known as Mount Eremos) has been commemorated for more than 1600 years. The site is very near Tabgha. Other suggested locations have included the nearby Mount Arbel, or even the Horns of Hattin. - We will always opt to avoid bad traffic and crowds.
