OverviewEnjoy this tour of fascinating Santiago, a city of contrasts. Santiago is a city of contrasts. With remnants of its colonial past intermingled with ultramodern, high-rise buildings in the financial center, this metropolis will surprise you. On this tour you will see/visit: • Downtown Santiago • Club Hipico • Parque O'Higgins • The Alameda • Plaza de Armas • Central Market • Mapocho River • Bellavista District • San Cristóbal Hill • Providencia Your tour begins by heading south through the downtown area, passing the Club Hípico, a beautiful horseracing track in the older residential area of the city. From there, travel along the famous Alameda, Santiago's colourful main avenue, passing the Chilean University, San Francisco Church, and the Santa Lucia Hill, the site of Santiago's foundation in 1541. Visit the lively Plaza de Armas, the city's main square, as well as the Cathedral. Now you are on to the famous Central Market, the main market for fish and seafood, which is located in a 19th century metal building that was built in London and brought by ship to Chile! After the market, cross the Mapocho River to reach the bohemian Bellavista district on your way to San Cristóbal Hill. From one of the hill's view points, you will have the finest views of Santiago and the Andes Mountains. To round out the tour, you will pass through the modern residential areas of the city with their daring architecture. Finally, head to the bustling Providencia shopping zone for some souvenir shopping! • Your tour includes all admissions. • Please note that the Pre-Colombian Art Museum is closed on Sunday and Monday afternoons. • Food, beverages, gratuities not included. • This tour is available for guests staying in Santiago Hotels only.
