Enjoy a ride through the marvelous countryside, assisted by your escort and delighted by classical music. An official guide will meet you at St. Peter’s Station (the Vatican area). Your exclusive tour starts with a visit to the incredible works of art in the Vatican Museums and continues with a visit to St. Peter's Square, which was created by Bernini and is considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world. At the top of the square stands St. Peter's Basilica, the Christendom's most magnificent church, begun in 1452 on the site where St. Peter was buried. Throughout the following 200 years, such Renaissance masters as Bramante, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Bernini worked on its design and created an unparalleled masterpiece. Of special note are Michelangelo's Pieta and the bronze canopy over the high altar by Bernini. The immense dome was designed by Michelangelo. Your tour ends with a drive to St. Peter's Station where Roma Express will take you back to Civitavecchia. - This tour is suitable for groups of 10 people or more. - This tour is not available on Sundays, as the Vatican Museums are closed. - In 2021 The Vatican will be closed on November 1st and December 8th & 25th. - Please note that on the first Sunday of each month many tourist sites in Italy have free admission. This can often result in long lines. If you are staying at a hotel, it may be beneficial to avoid booking a tour involving inside visits to major attractions on these days.
