OverviewTransfers to or from your hotel and visits to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the bazaar. After breakfast, you will meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel. Please have your luggage with you. Your exploration of the history and architecture of these special attractions will begin with the Blue Mosque. It is one of the most famed materpieces of Ottoman religious architecture and is named after its turquoise colored tiles made of quartz minerals. The Ottoman Sultans preferred to pray in this timeless shrine due to its incomparable beauty until the collapse of the Empire just after World War I. Please keep in mind that if you choose to visit the inside, you will be expected to dress modestly and remove your shoes before entering. Women are expected to cover their heads. The Topkapi Palace was a setting for state occasions and royal entertainments and is a major attraction today, containing the most holy relics of the Muslim world such as the prophet Muhammed's cloak and sword. The palace is among those monuments belonging to the "Historic Areas of Istanbul," which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, and has been described "the best example of Ottoman period palaces." Enjoy some time at the Grand Bazaar for shopping as your last stop. Your guide can direct you and will certainly help you with your bargaining. Surely you will find something here as there are more than 4,000 vendors selling everything from spices to furniture to souvenirs! - The price of this tour includes a driver and air-conditioned vehicle, an English-speaking guide, and entrance and parking fees to all sites. Food and gratuities are not included. - ShoreTrips' reservations bypass the ticket lines wherever possible, which is not available at the Blue Mosque. On very crowded days, we will discuss the Blue Mosque from the outside and visit the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent (1557), which is Istanbul's largest and grandest of Istanbul’s mosques. - As this is a transfer, as well as a tour, you will have luggage.
