Overview

The best way to see this 2.3-million acre piece of pristine wilderness is by floatplane.

The Misty Fjords National Monument has been carved to impressive perfection by millions of years of glacial activity. It will take you only the blink of an eye to appreciate nature's handiwork.

The Misty Fjords National Monument offers everything that "means" Alaska. The only way to take in the true majesty of this pristine wilderness is by floatplane. Equipped with a unique in-flight communications system that allows passengers to easily interact with the pilot, the floatplane will fly over some of the planet's most fascinating landmarks.

The soaring cliffs, sawtooth ridges blanketed in trademark mists, sky-blue lakes, endless waterfalls, icy saltwater fjords, and miles of glacier-carved gorges cannot be appreciated any other way.

And while you take in the enormity of the Misty Fjords National Monument from above, remember to keep an eye out for wildlife below, including burly brown bears, agile mountain goats, harbor seals, and humpback whales.

The highlight of this tour will be landing on a pristine fjord to view the breathtaking scenery from water level. You will have the opportunity to get out and stand on the floats of the plane, with a waterfall just over your shoulder. It will be an experience that you won't soon forget!

- Please allow at least 2 hours for this trip. Flight duration is approximately 70 minutes, plus 20 minutes at the fjord.

- Maximum weight for the passengers is 1200 pounds combined. You will be asked to furnish us with the weights of each passenger.
- Maximum is 6 passengers.
- This excursion can accommodate collapsible wheelchairs but you must be able to walk a few steps and get in and out of the van or plane without the assistance of your pilot. You will be asked if you are traveling with a wheelchair during check-out.
- Bags and backpacks are not allowed on the plane because of flight regulations. They can be left at the tour operator's office and locked in a secure location.
- The pilot will converse as much as possible, though will sometimes be in communication with ground handlers as well as other pilots. Thank you for understanding.
