Sub-tropical forest and snow-covered glaciers vie for space on this narrow strip of land sandwiched between the Tasman Sea and the Southern Alps on the West Coast of the South Island. The Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers are the most low-lying of their type in the world.
Our helicopter bases are located at Fox and Franz Josef. Scenic flights encompass the two famous glaciers and many more besides. These frozen rivers of ice can travel up to 3 metres per day down the mountain valleys. Guided walks on the glaciers make the experience very personal. Sweep from glacier to ocean in minutes.
